Náttúra Íslands – Ausstellung im Salthús Guesthouse 2

Zuerst möchte ich die Gastgeberin meiner Ausstellung im Salthús vorstellen: 

First I would like to introduce the host of my exhibition at Salthús: 

Hrafnhildur Sigurðadóttir ist eine isländische Textilkünstlerin, deren Arbeiten in zahlreichen Ausstellungen in Island, ganz Skandinavien und beispielsweise in Frankreich, USA und Deutschland zu sehen waren. Auch hat sie viele Preise für ihre Arbeiten errungen. Über sich selbst sagt sie:

„Feminismus und die weibliche Welt sind mein Gesprächsthema [..] Ich versuche, all dies und das Publikum mit Humor anzusprechen, obwohl das Thema manchmal todernst ist, durch die Wahl der Materialien und einen Titel, der einen Hinweis auf den Inhalt und die Absicht gibt, ohne die Leute damit zu erschlagen. Auf diese Weise entstehen taktile und poetische dreidimensionale Werke, die zwischen den Grenzen von Textilien und Skulpturen tanzen und die Menschen manchmal zum Lachen bringen.“

Hrafnhildur Sigurðadóttir is an Icelandic textile artist whose work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in Iceland, throughout Scandinavia and in France, the USA and Germany, for example. She has also won many awards for her work. About herself she says:

„Feminism and the female world is my topic of conversation [..] I try to address all of this and the audience with humor, although the subject is sometimes deadly serious, through choice of materials and a title that gives a hint about the content and intent without hitting people over the head with it.  Thereby creating tactile and poetic three-dimensional pieces that dance between the borders of textiles and sculpture, and sometimes make people laugh.“

Zu diesem Bild wurde ich mittlerweile öfter gefragt: Was ist hier eigentlich zu sehen? Es sieht aus wie gemalt, ist es wirklich ein Foto?

Ein Bach namens Fulakvisl, dessen Wasser die Farbe der Erde aufnimmt und fließen darf wie er will, mündet in einen See, der grünlich gefärbt ist. Wenn man so will, gemalt von der Natur als große Künstlerin, von mir nur fotografiert. Aus dem Flugzeug, aus ca. 50m Höhe eröffnete sich diese Ansicht. Für kurze Zeit wahrscheinlich nur, am nächsten Tag könnte es schon wieder ganz anders aussehen..

In the meantime, I have often been asked about this picture: What is actually to be seen here? It looks like a painting, is it really a photo?

A stream called Fulakvisl, whose water absorbs the colour of the earth and is allowed to flow as it pleases, flows into a lake that is greenish in colour. If you like, painted by nature as a great artist, only photographed by me. From an aeroplane, from a height of about 50m, this view opened up. Probably only for a short time, the next day it could look completely different..
